Ice Cream Wine Syrups
Makes about 1/2 cup.
|2 cups wine see suggested wines|
1/2 cup sugar
Haagan Dazs Reserve Amazon Chocolate, Lehua Honey and Sweet Cream or Pomegranate Chip Ice Creams**
In a 2-3 quart saucepan over medium-high heat, bring wine to a strong simmer. Simmer until reduced to 1 cup, about 8 minutes. (Pour wine into a measuring cup to check reduction.)
Stir in sugar. Return to a simmer and cook 3-5 minutes until slightly syrupy and reduced to about 1/2 cup. Cool to room temperature then refrigerate. Mixture becomes more syrupy as it cools. Drizzle about 1-1/2 tablespoons over choice of Haagan Dazs Reserve ice cream.
Suggested wine-ice cream pairings:
Pinot Noir or Shiraz with Chocolate
Chardonnay or a dry Sauvignon Blanc with Vanilla
RoseŽor White Zinfandel with Strawberry or Mango
The wine varietals have subtle yet noticeable differences that pair specifically to each of the ice cream flavors.
